WIWO - 9/29/2014

I had quite a profitable week as far as stitching is concerned. I finished both the hearts project and Gingerbread Baker. And Saturday, I started Mill Hill's Queen Anne House. I'm stitching it on 14-count pewter Aida instead of the brown perforated paper that came with it, because I hope to make these into a wall hanging at some point.

This is the result of two evenings of stitching:

I have quite a few of these to stitch and when I gave David the box and asked him to choose one, this is the one he chose, because it reminded him of the Victorian houses we see in Eureka and Ferndale when we visit his parents. Fortunately, it was also the one I wanted to stitch also.

Happy Dance - Gingerbread Baker

This is Gingerbread Baker from Charlette's Collectibles. This was a kit and included white perforated plastic. I did use two strands for the cross stitch instead of the three that were called for in the directions.

I started it at the Angels game on 9/19/2014 and completed it today (9/27/2014).

I really enjoyed stitching this one. I haven't decided how to finish it yet, but it will either be a magnet or an ornament.

Another Missing Tooth

Kyleigh lost her fourth tooth Sunday night. She was already in bed, but ran out to tell Mommy it was ready to come out. This time she pulled it out herself. I asked Janice for a picture and she finally sent me one this evening. The subject on the email was "She wouldn't stand still.".

As you can see the other top tooth is starting to grow in.

Happy Dance - Hearts Square

This is the Valentine Stitch-a-Long for Quilts for Older Children and Adults. It was due on August 15th, but due to a rough summer, I didn't get to work on it until this month. Since I think it was to be used as an extra square for Love Quilts Brazil, I'm going to send it in anyway and hope it can still be used.

I started this square on 9/5/2014 and completed it tonight (9/23/2014). The chart was provided by Jeneen and it's stitched on white 14-count Aida using DMC 351 and DMC Variations 4120.

WIWO - 9/22/2014

I worked on two projects this week. First, I continued working on the hearts design for Quilts for Older Children and Adults. Now that all the big hearts are done, I hope to have it finished in a few more days.

Friday night was an Angels game so I pulled out a small project on plastic canvas to work on at the game. It was a very boring game and we lost big time so I'm glad I had my stitching with me. This is Gingerbread Baker from Charlette's Collectibles.

"I like to climb on balls"

This isn't referring to me of course.

We went to Angels Stadium this morning to exchange a post season shirt that I'd purchased the night before and buy a birthday gift for Devin's brother. (Devin is Janice's live-in boyfriend.) While we were there, Kyleigh decided she wanted to climb on one of the cement baseballs bordering the stadium.

Oops, it's a little to tall for her:

But with a little help, she made it:

And asked Mommy and Devin to join her:

After this, we went to Target so I could by a new toaster since ours had finally died after many, many years of faithful service. Kyleigh found another ball in front of the store. This one, she managed to climb by herself.

My poor little car

I was on my way to work this morning when a lady backed out of her driveway and into my car. Fortunately, no one was hurt, the car was drivable once David removed all of the dangling parts and wired up the grille, and the other insurance company has accepted responsibiity.

After contacting my insurance company, we drove it to the repair shop and then got a rental car. It should be in the shop for two weeks. It wasn't fun and was/is definitely an inconvenience, but it could have been a lot worse.

Below are two pictures of the damage.

A Red October anyone?

The Angels clinched the American League West Championship last night!! I watched the end of the game which put their magic number at 1 and stayed up to watch the Rangers beat Oakland to make the magic number 0. I wish I'd been at the game, but the TV coverage was pretty good. David said about 1/2 of the fans stayed for the celebration which included the Angels players running around the stadium spraying champagne into the crowd.

It makes it rough to schedule anything in October though. If they retain their current best record in baseball, they will have home field advantage for the whole post season with their first game being at home on October 2nd and I'm going to the game!!

GO Angels!!!!

WIWO - 9/15/2014

I'm still working on the same project as I was last week.  This is for the Valentines SAL for Quilts for Older Children and Adults.

It's not going as quickly as I'd like, partly because the project isn't keeping my interest and partly because the 100+ degree heat and no air conditioning doesn't make me want to stitch much.

WIWO - 9/8/14

This week I've been working on a Valentine's project for Quilts for Older Children and Adults. The chart was provided by the group, but everyone chose their own colors. I chose to use DMC 351 and DMC Variations 4120. This was actually due 8/15/14, but I'm going to finish and send it in anyway.

Happy Dance - Gingerbread House

Mill Hill's Gingerbread House is from the Buttons and Beads Winter Series and has been in my stash for several years.

It's stitched on tan perforated paper with DMC floss and of course, Mill Hill beads. It will be framed in a Mill Hill red frame and hopefully displayed this Christmas.

I started it in early August (I forget the exact date), and I finished it on September 3, 2014.

First Day of First Grade

Yesterday was Kyleigh's first day of first grade and she definitely wasn't looking forward to it. We had a taco dinner at her house Monday night and I asked her to have mama take a picture in the morning (I have one for every year), but she said she wouldn't be smiling so I said she could do both a smiling picture aand one showing how she really felt. Here is the "happy" picture:

And here is the "sad" face:

Since I'm on vacation this week and she only had a half day, I picked her up early. She had a good day and said she likes her teacher so far.

We made chocolate chip cookies and the David took her to recycle bottles and cans. She made $23.35 which will go straight into her savings account.

WIWO - 9/1/2014

WIWO stands for "What I'm Working On" and it is something we post on the group Shared Crosses every Monday. Since I have to take a picture to update the group, I decided to post it here, too.

This is Gingerbread House by Mill Hill. I started it in early August, but I don't remember the exact date.

This is the first time I've done all the cross stitches before adding the beads and it's worked really well. No surprise though, because that's how the designer suggests it be done.

For some reason, I really like gingerbread houses, men, women, etc. so choosing this was a no-brainer, but I especially like this one because it's so colorful.
