Happy Dance - Blue Gingerbread Man

Started: 10/15/2016
Finished: 10/25/2016
Lucie Heaton

This is the second of several gingerbread people that I'm planning to stitch on plastic canvas. It's from an older Cross Stitch Crazy magazine, but since I'd torn out the chart, I don't know which issue.  It's one of seven gingerbread people in a Cut Out and Keep Section called Festive Treats.

It's stitched on 14-count white perforated plastic as charted with DMC floss.

Happy Dance - Duncan Dog

 Started: 10/17/2016
Finished: 10/19/2016
Brooke's Books' Advent Animals

This whole set is being stitched on one piece of 14-count Misty Blue Aida with the called for DMC.  I had originally stitched #1-#5 on individual pieces of Light Blue 14-count Aida, but wasn't really happy with the way the white showed up; I'm much happier with the way it's showing up on this material.

Tractor Show Weekend #1 - Sunday

Kyleigh spent Saturday night with us in the motorhome so we had more fun on Sunday.  We looked at some of the exhibits.  Kyleigh was very impressed with a motor that runs on hot air and got to spin yarn using a drop spindle.  She also wound several different colors of yarn into one ball, but I didn't get a picture of that.

She then went to the train station and asked to help the engineer; he let her punch tickets and open and close doors.  When it came time to actually ride the train, he let her ride in the cab and blow the whistle.  On her second trip, he even let her drive.

She also got to ride in the tractor parade again.  This time she went through twice.  The first time she rode in the cook shack and chased a chicken robber and took back the chicken, but I wasn't fast enough to get a picture.  The second time she rode on a big tractor with a crane on the back.  There is a witch at the end of the crane.

Tractor Show Weekend #1 - Saturday

This past weekend was the Tractor Show (Fall Festival Weekend) at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista, CA.  David and I went down for the weekend, but Janice, Devin and Kyleigh came down early Saturday morning and Janice and Devin left after the parade.  Kyleigh spent Saturday night with us as she really enjoys all the activities for kids.

First, she rode the train where she met two new friends.  Then she played on the playground with them; her favorite was the merry-go-round.  She also participated in the Potato Picking "race" where she picked 6 of 7 potatoes.  She went through a second time with her friend picking and tried very hard to help her get one potato.
Kyleigh also got to ride in the tractor parade on the back of a friend's tractor.  Riding in the parade is a highlight of the weekend for her.
Finally, after the show was over, we were relaxing at the RV when our neighbor decided that Kyleigh should learn to drive his cart.  He said she did really well and even took her out of the campground itself.  Later, his wife took her out, too.

Happy Dance - Gingerbread Lady

 Started: 10/13/2016
Finished: 10/16/2016

It's from an older Cross Stitch Crazy magazine, but since I'd torn out the chart, I don't know which issue.  It's one of seven gingerbread people in a Cut Out and Keep Section called Festive Treats.

It's stitched on 14-count white perforated plastic.  All of the white in the design has been changed to green (912), but otherwise it's stitched as charted with DMC floss.

I stitched this for the Christmas Ornie SAL for September, the theme for which was Christmas food.

I enjoyed stitching it so much that I've chosen three more of these to stitch on perforated plastic.  When finished, they will hang on my tree, hopefully this Christmas.

Happy Dance - Holiday Express

Started: 10/10/2016
Finished:10/13/2016
Mill Hill - Winter Holiday Collection

I stitched this on the enclosed perforated paper with the enclosed floss using two strands for all stitching instead of the three called for.  (The ornament is much brighter IRL.)

This is my October ornament for the Christmas Ornie SAL where the theme this month is Toys/Presents.  When I was a child we always had a train going around the Christmas tree and my daughter still does today.

Although the kit came with a magnet, I made a hanger out of leftover beads and this ornament will be hanging on my tree come December.

Happy Dance - New York Postcard

Postcards from the World - October (New York)
Started: 10/5/2016
Finished: 10/10/2016
Clouds Factory

This is being stitched on Crystal Haven 16-count Aida with mostly DMC floss, although there are three Weeks colors as well--Cactus, Marigold and Aqua. The only change I made is the color of the stamp, again because I wanted something different than the surrounding stamps.

Since I haven't shown it for awhile, here's the whole project.  Only two months left!  Where will we go next?

Happy Dance - A 2nd Flowers in a Vase

Started: 10/6/2016
Finished: 10/7/2016
Cross Stitch Crazy (Issue Unknown)

I was getting squares ready to mail on Thursday--they need to be in Pennsylvania next Saturday--and couldn't find this square anywhere.  After tearing apart my craft room/home office without success, I decided just to restitch it.

It's stitched on 14-count white Aida with the called for DMC.  On the first one, I changed the vase to blue, but this one I stitched as charted.

It will be mailed along with the Superman square to Quilts for Older Children and Adults for one of the two church fundraisers, the theme for this one being flowers.

Church and Pumpkin Palooza

Kyleigh sang in church today and then her Brownie troop went to the Pumpkin Palooza at Irvine Park.

In church, Kyleigh is allowed to play games on my phone after we take communion while waiting for everyone else to do so.  She usually plays Subway Surfer, but today she decided to take selfies.  She took about 50 of them before I realized what she was doing.  Here is the best one.
She also took one of the two of us.
After church, I took one of her in her Brownie uniform since I didn't have one yet.
Here are a few of the pictures taken at the event.

Star Wars Lego Build

I took Kyleigh to our local Barnes & Noble today to participate in the Star Wars Lego Build.  This build was much more popular than the last one we went to.

There were design sheets for examples and the kids could also build anything they wanted.  Kyleigh built a Yoda and a BB8 from the designs and then got creative and built the words YODA and BB8.

At the end (Kyleigh was the last one to leave) the facilitator set up a display to take Kyleigh's picture for his files.  She couldn't keep the Legos, but she did get a certificate and had a really fun time.
