A Busy Veterans Day (picture heavy)

Some Saturdays are busier than others with several activities available.  When we were leaving the restaurant where we had breakfast, Kyleigh saw several men in uniform and told them "thank you for your service" so Janice decided we should take her to see the Field of Valor at Handy Park in Orange.  Both Janice and I had heard of it, but had never been there.  There are many, many flags that people have purchased to honor or remember someone who has served in the armed forces.  Each flag has a sheet attached with the person's name, rank, where fought, honors and whether or not they are active, retired or passed.  There are also flags for each branch of the service and a circle of the various flags of the United States from the first one with 13 stars to today's flag with 50 stars.

U.S.Army (because my dad was in the army
U.S. Coast Guard because my niece was in the Coast Guard and her husband still is.

After spending about half an hour at the Field of Valor, we went to the Sugar Plum Festival at the Orange County Fairgrounds where we found several Christmas presents and decorations that needed to be purchased.  We also saw Santa Claus and a snowman.  (Kyleigh still believes in Santa, but she knows he's not "real".)

Our next stop was Barnes and Noble so that Kyleigh could participate in the Mini Makers Fair.

We ended the evening by attending a Spaghetti Dinner hosted by the Horizons Senior Girl Scout Troop that Janice belonged to many years ago and Kyleigh will be joining in about five years.  This is an annual event, but it's the first year it's been held in the gym at our church.

There was a silent auction with many, many choices of baskets, etc.  Janice bid on and won a basket of craft supplies because Kyleigh claimed that she didn't have any.  There are many craft supplies at her home, but she says they all belong to her mom.
